"Nearly one week after suffering injuries in a Greenfield automobile accident, Tomas Saraví, a foreign exchange student from Argentina attending Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, died Friday, Sept. 14, surrounded by his family.

Saraví, 18, was a passenger in the vehicle being driven by his host mother, Diane Chart, 51, of Winchester, when they collided with a truck in Greenfield.

Chart died a few hours after being transported from the accident scene to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

Chart’s son, Dylan, was also injured in the accident and remains in the hospital.

Saraví's parents also took the steps to offer their son's organs for donation, according to a posting on M23digital. The website also stated that because of his donations, two lives were saved and Gov. Scott Walker had recognized the family for their donation. The posting was not specific about the lives that had been saved from Saraví's donation.

A story about Chart and Saraví and their impact on people in the community will be published in the Tuesday, Sept. 18, print edition of The Lakeland Times.

Saraví’s obituary, which will be published in the Tuesday, Sept. 18, edition of The Lakeland Times, is provided below.
